Song of the Lioness Quartet by Tamora Pierce
This product was recommended by Annie Ray from Buildingstars
Why? In the late 80s, before girl power was fashionable, Tamora Pierce was writing stories for strong women who wanted to grow up and be knights, not princesses. Alanna is a fabulous example of a coming-of-age story, with a twist – to be taken seriously as a knight, Alanna must pretend to be male. What makes this story a feminist masterpiece is the struggle of womanhood for Alanna and her fate to accept its reality – will she be gracefully accepted, or heinously exposed as a traitor?
Don’t Ask Permission to Fly by Anna Gouker
This product was recommended by Anna Gouker from AnnaGouker
This book is a collection of essays about my life, observations about the world, and some of the people who have influenced me the most. Finding our true selves is a lifelong journey. Figuring out the difference between who I am compared to the person others perceive me to be, that has been an epic struggle. My intention for this book is to help others on their journey of self-discovery, so they can make their big impact on the world instead of the world just making its mark on them.
Doing This ONE Thing Will Change Your Life Forever! by Jacqui Olliver
This product was recommended by Jacqui Olliver from End the Problem
Her father’s suicide seemed to be a morbid ending to Jacqui Olliver’s teenage years of isolation, loneliness and not feeling wanted. Like many other experts, her life started out as a troubled teenager, working through the mental contamination associated with sexual abuse, low self-esteem, social anxiety, and depression. Emotional and intimacy issues which contaminate relationships are solved in this book along with a proven strategy for enhancing all aspects of personal connection. These insightful answers can transform a teen from feeling frustrated, insecure and isolated into a happy, radiant and confident person.
The Beauty Myth by Naomi Wolf
This product was recommended by Brack Nelson from Incrementors
The most classic feminist textbook I ever have read. It is also far more accessible than I had imagined. If you’re searching for a historical introduction to the negative structures of beauty in society, this book is perfect for you. I recommend reading it and making up your own opinion, but most of the time it’s quite impartial and considers both sides of the argument. I would highly recommend this book to every young feminist.
Moxie by Jennifer Mathieu
This product was recommended by Rohan Kadam from Bikingknowhow
This should be a must read for students. At the risk of sounding a bit preachy I would recommend young students to read this book. This book is full of how to start a revolution. The book guide on how to influence the hearts and minds of your fellow students. I am seriously feeling such books should have been around when I was in school.
