Plainwater by Anne Carson

This product was recommended by Stephen Curry from CocoSign

Understanding people is getting perplexed by them. But is this the main lesson here or the opposite? Well, maybe it is that you can’t “live six months inside a frozen pear.” Whatever you might think you know regarding the subject from grief, phenomenology, pilgrimage, family, trout – Carson comes with different ways to know it. For those unfamiliar with her work, this is the best book to get started and enjoy the world of poetry and prose that are a testament to the writer’s extraordinary imagination.

Mary wants to be a superwoman by Erica Lewis

This product was recommended by Stephen Curry from CocoSign

In this book, the writer ensures to provide readers with the context they need. There is an excellent introduction and a collection of photographs to sweep up readers by fast-moving, pop-filled, history-steeped poems. Spinning away from and back to Erica’s mother, Mary, the book travels through time and space. It has lines such as “we are the reason / for one another / all of our spit and our bling / old blues to cover a new blues / gratitude and dislocation / the notion of place / as passage and return / I love you…

Poems to Lift You Up and Make You Smile by Jayne Ferrer

This product was recommended by Jayne Jaudon Ferrer from Your Daily Poem

The book features the work of poets across the U.S., Canada, England, and Ireland–uplifting and inspiring words designed to appeal even to those who think they don’t like poetry!

Leaves Of Grass by Walt Whitman

This product was recommended by Andrew Drow from Cloom

The incomparable achievement of one of America’s greatest poets – an exuberant, passionate man who loved his country and wrote about it as no other has done. Walt Whitman was a singer-thinker whose visionary words have inspired generations with their honest descriptions in Leaves Of Grass.

Goblin Market and Other Poems by Christina Rossetti

This product was recommended by Farhan Advani from Buy Here Pay Here

Christina Rossetti’s poetry is often considered to be some of the most beautiful and voluptuous in English. Like other poets, such as Emily Dickinson, who lived a secluded life where they wrote about religion with a sensuality that seemed from their soul; this was also how Christina felt when writing her work for many years until one day she found herself outside looking at everything around her while listening to an interior conversation.

The Haywire Heart and Other Musings on Love by Rachel Anna Neff

This product was recommended by Rachel Neff from Exceptional Editorial

Combining mythology and cultural consciousness, The Haywire Heart and Other Musings on Love isn’t your typical book of love poetry. It is a damning critique of rape culture, patriarchy, and sexism. The poems explore what is woman, but not only woman-as-body, but woman as a scream against the tyranny surrounding her existence. From the atomic forces that hold us together to current events, The Haywire Heart reflects the idea of testimonio, or testimony, where one voice can act as a witness to multiple wrongs. Rachel Anna Neff is unflinching in her exploration of how myths, legends, and folktales shape cultural values. Her poetic voice is strong and clear, creating a chorus for the daily existence from the mundane to the miraculous. These poems will stick with you long after you put the book down.

Healing Words by Alexandra Vasiliu

This product was recommended by Susan Melony from Unbreak Yourself

Looking at the essence, this book is meant to inspire and encourage people in pain to have a better look at life and themselves. It gives the spotlight to taking care and appreciating themselves. What the poem tells is relatable and relevant in the real struggles and sufferings of being in pain and on the verge of feeling unloved. This book is good for boosting one’s perspective towards themselves.

Just a Boy Blaming Himself by Daniel Hess

This product was recommended by Daniel Hess from To Tony Productions

It is a emoetry collection for those who love Halloween all year long and living in a world surrounded by feels. A deeply sometimes unflattering look at life, love and loss throughout your mid 20s.

Sir Gawain and the Green Knight by Simon Armitage

This product was recommended by Paul Johnson from Complete Songwriter

It should be mentioned because, 1) it is one of the earliest examples of this kind of writing in existence, 2) it poses some unforgiving moral questions about chivalry and humanity which are still relevant today, 3) it’s a very entertaining and mysterious tale. 4) Simon’s interpretation is the most entertaining and accessible. Precis. The story is a set around a bazaar game or test in which Gawain must travel the countryside seeking his own executioner. He encounters several problems, the most perplexing being Lady Bertilac who, is intent on seducing him. Of course he should to resist – OR should he ? Because a Knight is bound by his honour to grant a Lady’s request. And Lady Bertilac carries herself with irresistible charm. There are also many other layers to this tale which nod to the political situation in England at the time and there’s even a foray into homosexuality.

Inside Out and Back Again by Thanhhà Lai

This product was recommended by Harriet Chan from CocoFinder

Inside Out and Back Again, is a fantastic book that has the length of a verse novel yet packs a punch many times its size. It’s one of the most beautiful novels I’ve read in a long time, and it can make you reflect on and question the entire immigrant story genre. To write this book, Lai drew on a lot of her own experiences. I loved seeing things through Há’s eyes when she and her family migrated to the USA from Vietnam and everything that they went through while grieving what had been lost and adjusting to the new way of life. This is an excellent book for children to learn about immigration (and to some degree, how it feels to be a new immigrant student ). It does an excellent job of both informing and instilling empathy in its audience. It would also be an excellent resource for learning about Vietnamese culture.

Voices of Grieving Heart By Mark Bernhardt

This product was recommended by Cindy Corpis from SearchPeopleFree

Grieving death is one of the hardest things in the world. This book is a beautiful piece of poetry about the topic and can be relatable to many people as well. It is a sad piece of literature yet, is beautiful and can be emotional. The book itself has great reviews and is among top-selling. I definitely would recommend it if you are looking for an emotional yet beautiful piece of literature.

Planet Middle School By Nikki Grimes

This product was recommended by Cindy Corpis from SearchPeopleFree

This story is about a girl and her middle school life. It talks about how she is a tomboy but everything suddenly starts changing and she feels basketball isn’t the same anymore. The story is a beautiful piece of poetry and talks about a middle scholar and an interesting twist in her life which will be interesting to read about. It is definitely recommended!
