#5 Confessions of a Bad, Ugly Singer by Collette McLafferty
Confessions of a Bad, Ugly Singer is a shocking, true story that takes a deep dive into the world of double standards, mass media and the marketing of insecurities to women. The book follows protagonist and author, Collette McLafferty after finding herself virally age shamed in The New York Post headline “Singer Sued for Being Too Old and Too Ugly for P!NK Tribute Band”. Although the singer was dragged into a lawsuit between two men in their 50’s, the media coverage highlighted McLafferty’s age at the time (40), while omitting the ages of the two men.
