Most people like their skin smooth and hair-free—especially in the summertime. Not only can body hair make you look scruffy, but it can also become an irritant. But did you know there are several ways that you can get rid of unwanted body hair?

If your current method isn’t effective, you should consider trying something new. With that said, take a look at the hair removal tips below to learn how to remove unwanted hair.

Shave

Perhaps one of the most common ways to get rid of unwanted hair is by shaving. This option is great for people who prefer a quick, cost-effective style of hair removal. If you choose the shave, it’s best to exfoliate first.

By doing so, you’ll prepare your skin for the blade and help to get rid of dead skin cells that could be blocking the hair follicles. Not only that, but to avoid ingrown hairs, the most effective shaving method is to shave in the direction that your hair grows.

If you have sensitive skin, find a shaving cream that won’t cause any irritation. Also, all-natural solutions, like aloe vera gel, work well for shaving. Be very careful when shaving because you can potentially cut yourself.

Opt for razors that have at least four blades. Actually, men’s razors are known to be the most effective with providing a smooth, close shave. Even if you are a woman, consider using men’s razors to enhance your shaving experience.

Hair Removal Cream

If you’re wondering how to remove unwanted hair without a razor, then hair removal creams are a great option. They’re super easy to use and quite effective. If you don’t like the precision and attention to detail that shaving requires, you’ll love hair removal creams.

Simply spread the product over the area, and let it sit for 2 to 3 minutes. In that timeframe, you can even do other tasks that you need to do—which is a plus. Once the time is up, use a wet cloth to remove the hair.

The hair removal process using this product is pretty effective, but sometimes it doesn’t get to the root of the hair. It’ll burn off the length, but the hair closest to the skin doesn’t get removed. If you have that experience, you should do a second application or allow your cream to stay on a little longer.

If you have sensitive skin, removal creams might not be the best option. They could burn your skin if you leave them on too long or use the product after its expiration date.

Waxing

Waxing is a hair removal option that you can either do at home or in the care of a professional. Lots of women like to get their bikini lines waxed, as well as their armpits, legs, and upper lip. Waxing is a bit painful, but you’ll eventually get used to it. You’ll feel a slight sting when the hair is ripped off, and your skin might be a bit red after.

However, waxing ensures that all of the hair is pulled out. Therefore, you’re guaranteed to start off with a clean slate, and your wax results will last longer. You can probably go 2 to 3 weeks between your wax appointments

If you’re more comfortable with waxing at home, consider using wax beads for your bikini area.

Natural Remedies

There are some unorthodox methods to removing hair. One of them is sugar wax. It’s an all-natural option that works really well. To make a batch of wax, you need 200 g of sugar, 60 ml of lemon juice, and 60 mL of water.

Pour all of your ingredients into a saucepan and bring them to a simmer. Allow the ingredients to heat until they’re golden brown in color. After that, pour the wax into a jar and let it cool for about 30 minutes.

Once you’re ready to wax, take some of it into your hands and roll it into a ball. On clean, dry skin, spread the wax over the desired area let it sit for a minute, then lift the mixture up quickly as if you were waxing with a cloth.

In addition to this, you can also wax with a pumice stone. On clean, dry skin move the pumice stones over the desired area in circular motions.

As a result of this motion, the pores will cling to the hairs, and the stone will pull them out. This option can feel a bit rough on the skin, so make sure to moisturize after.

Threading

Threading is most often used for the eyebrows. However, it could also be used for other parts of the body, like the upper lip. This option is great for completely removing the hair from the socket.

It’s similar to plucking, but it’s quicker and removes multiple hairs at once. Not only that, but results from threading can last between 4 to 5 weeks.

The only downside is that threading could cause a bit of irritation. So if you’re someone with sensitive or acne-prone skin, it may not be a good option.

Furthermore, threading isn’t ideal for large areas.
